Together this talented trio--with occasional accompaniment by percussionist Marcos Suzano, guitarist Luiz Brasil, vocalist Ed Motta, and bassist Zeca Assumpçao--beautifully exposes the French influences of Satie, Ravel, and Chopin in Jobim's music. Casa is a 2001 studio album by the trio Morelenbaum²/Sakamoto, consisting of cellist Jaques Morelenbaum, vocalist Paula Morelenbaum, and pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto. It is a tribute to Brazilian musician and composer Antônio Carlos Jobim, with most of the songs recorded in his house in Rio de Janeiro, using his grand piano. So it's entirely fitting that the Morelenbaums, along with pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto, should journey to Jobim 's idyllic music room in his home above Rio de Janeiro to make some intimate on-the-spot recordings of Jobim 's music -- with Sakamoto playing Jobim 's own grand piano.

Morelenbaumis a more than capable singer, and often a delight here (as on "Fotografia"), while Sakamotois the real revelation of the album. He blends in so perfectly it's hard to believe he's not Brazilian; he's deft in rhythmic support, and never pushes too much on his solos.
